3 Simple Ways to Make Bible Stories Unforgettable for Kids!
Hey Reader! As teachers in Christian preschools and early childhood programs, we have such an incredible opportunity to introduce young children to God. It matters HOW we teach them, though. Today I’m going to give you three quick tips for teaching a Bible story more effectively for young children:
You don’t have to be an expert in theology or doctrine. Even if you’re fairly new to the Bible, read a story in a couple of children’s Bible storybooks as you prepare and then re-tell it in your own words. Use post-it notes or an outline if you need to. There is no shame in that at all! God will equip you as you trust Him to help you. If you’ve been in church your whole life and think you know the stories pretty well, I’d encourage you to ask God to show YOU something new as you prepare to teach the stories to children. He will meet you wherever you are and help you to know Him better just as He is using you to help children know Him. There’s nothing quite like young children recognizing the power and majesty of God. Look for it. It will bless you a million times over. Melissa McKenzie and I had an amazing conversation about this very topic and recorded it for you in this week’s podcast. She has SO MANY fantastic ideas. One of the most powerful moments was when she talked about a group of babies in awe of the Bible as God’s word! Listen in HERE If you haven’t yet. Also, HERE is a list of some of our favorite Bibles and Bible storybooks for young children if you need some new ideas.
Cheering you on this week! -Your ECCN team
